What's different about lessons at Central Jersey Music Academy?

Children love music–it’s a central part of our lives! So why do so many of them hate piano lessons? How can so many children study piano for years with little or nothing to show?

After teaching countless hours, I’m starting to see why:

Most kids see piano practice as one more thing on an endless to-do list. School, homework, sports practice, chores, more homework–kids these days are busy!

Why isn’t piano fun? What happened?

Most teachers focus only on scales, hand shape, and facts. Hardly any actual playing happens in the lesson. And that’s what kids come to lessons to do–to play!

In addition, many teachers don’t pass on efficient practice skills. It’s no wonder most kids don’t want to spend time at home accomplishing little to nothing!

At Central Jersey Music Academy, we care about making music. Every child has a spark of talent within them, and we work to uncover and grow each individual’s gifts.

Our students:

  • Learn to sight-read with good rhythm on day one, so they can play all types of music.

  • Learn their music in lessons with the teacher so there is no confusion at home and practice can be fun.

  • Move through their first lesson book in just 4-5 months! (The average student takes 9 months.)

  • Gain all the benefits of music lessons–increased academic performance and test scores, increased creativity, self-expression–in a supportive environment.

Intermediate and Advanced students get personalized performance coaching. Many take part in events such as the New Jersey State Recital Auditions. Others challenge themselves with the Royal Conservatory Examinations. Accomplishments like these build confidence and look great on college resumes!

Jason is a fantastic piano instructor. He is very articulate and precise in the way he teaches, and focuses heavily on the details. He explains things very clearly and methodically. It is easy to see he loves teaching! Our daughter has learned so much in less than a year. We are very happy to have him as her instructor!
